After School & Vacation Care Programs OSHC

In addition to private classes Bondi Acting has ventured into after school care facilities OSHC and offers flexible creative acting programs, in which the students are able to participate.

With a drop in class feel, these classes have created such a buzz that the kids wait in line so as not to miss out.

Programs vary from 1 hour to 1 – 1/5 in duration, in which there are roughly 2-3 groups lasting about 30 to 40 minutes long. This format works well in conjunction with afternoon tea as well as study groups and free play alongside varying pick up times.

With an OSHC philosophy of encouraging the kids to have variety, our “give it a try!” attitude, has been a great way for kids to have fun, stay relaxed and get creative!

In the classes each of the groups explore:

  • The art of improvisation
  • Team building
  • Craft and skill of acting terms e.g. – offering a idea and accepting
  • Using intuition
  • Building trust amongst peers of mixed ages
  • Confidence
  • Story telling
  • Physical exploration

“At Double Bay Out of School Hours Care (DBOOSH) I engaged Bondi Acting to run drama classes at our service once a week. The aim of the classes was to introduce the children to drama/theatre whilst developing a new set of skills. The director of Bondi Acting, Amber Kenny, took the classes each week. Amber is a fantastic teacher who always acted in a professional, friendly and enthusiastic manner, whilst also being very responsive to the individual needs of our service. Amber tailored the program to meet the needs and wants of our children and to accommodate certain aspects of our centre’s program. Throughout the term the DBOOSH children began to exhibit greater confidence speaking in front of others and increased creativity and enthusiasm pertaining to drama. They also began to develop a range of theatre skills such as body awareness, audience awareness, being mindful of others on stage and voice projection. Most importantly, the DBOOSH children had huge amounts of fun. We therefore invited Amber back to run classes for a second term. I would highly recommend Bondi Acting to any OSHC or youth service looking to introduce their children to acting and drama, or who want the children of their service to develop some excellent skills.”
